Elon Musk recently sparked a conversation about one of the most heavily guarded locations on the planet: Fort Knox. Over the weekend, Elon Musk received unexpected support from Senator Rand Paul, who urged a thorough examination of the legendary gold reserves stored at the Kentucky-based vault. The call came after Musk engaged with a social media post questioning whether the U.S. government’s 4,580 tons of gold are still securely held within Fort Knox.

“Surely it’s reviewed at least every year,” Musk replied to a user on X, prompting Senator Paul to chime in with a straightforward, “Nope. Let’s do it.” The Kentucky senator’s interest in the matter isn’t new; his father, former Congressman Ron Paul, had long advocated for greater transparency regarding the nation’s gold reserves. The elder Paul, a staunch advocate for gold-backed currency, had even proposed legislation in 2010 to audit Fort Knox, echoing the sentiment his son now shares.

The last comprehensive audit of Fort Knox remains shrouded in mystery, as the vault has been largely off-limits for decades. The facility first opened its doors to outsiders in 1974, when journalists and a Congressional delegation were granted access amid rumors that the gold had been secretly depleted. The vault was opened again in 2017 during the Trump administration, allowing then-Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Senator Mitch McConnell to inspect the reserves. At the time, the gold was confirmed to be intact, but some claiming the U.S. government sold off its holdings long ago. Personally, I trust the government so little that I feel like they need to test the bars to see if they are even real.

Fort Knox’s significance has waned since the U.S. abandoned the gold standard in 1971. Prior to that, the nation’s currency was backed by its gold reserves, stored in facilities like Fort Knox. Today, the gold is merely one of many assets held by the Federal Reserve. However, with Trump repeating "golden age", I suspect there will be moves made to back our dollar with gold again. The way that it should be.

According to the U.S. Mint, Fort Knox currently holds approximately 147.3 million ounces of gold, valued at a book price of 42.22 per ounce.  At today’s prices, the stash is worth hundreds of billions of dollars. The vault’s security is legendary, with the government stating that no single individual knows all the procedures required to access it.

Meanwhile, Musk has been making waves with his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative aimed at cutting federal spending. Recently, DOGE scored a legal victory when a federal judge declined to block its access to sensitive data from several government agencies. Critics, including labor unions and nonprofits, had raised concerns about potential misuse of information, particularly given Musk’s ties to companies like Tesla and SpaceX. However, the judge ruled that DOGE could proceed, describing the organization as a “Goldilocks entity” that operates as an agency when convenient but avoids the label when burdensome.

Musk celebrated the decision with a succinct “LFG” on social media, signaling his enthusiasm for DOGE’s mission. The initiative, a key part of former President Trump’s reelection campaign, has faced scrutiny for its unconventional structure and rapid expansion. Despite these challenges, DOGE continues its work, aiming to streamline government operations and reduce waste—a goal that aligns with Musk’s broader vision of efficiency and innovation.

I suspect that the Fort Knox review will be an eye opener. Some believe it's actually empty. I don't know what to think there, but considering that the last administration and many before it, along with congress have been stealing from us for so long... Well, nothing would surprise me really.

Currently, the Democrat Party has taken the stance that auditing everything and ensuring that the American taxpayer is not being abused by those in power is a bad thing. Not the best hill to die on, but as many have speculated, they are doing this because of the fact that they have been stealing from us through waste, fraud, and abuse for a very long time.

Liberal MSM fact checkers keep claiming that the waste and fraud found can easily be debunked, yet they don't seem to offer any logical or sensible debunks to the people.
