It would appear that the Secret Service is not playing around with any threats against President Trump. After dropping the ball at the PA rally in July of last year, it would seem that they are doing their due diligence now to ensure any threats to our president are taken care of.
The most recent example would be a case in Florida where Shannon Depararro Atkins, age 46, was picked up on Friday after a traffic stop close to his home. Depararro lived in West Palm Beach, a close distance to Mar-a-Lago Resort where President Trump spends time working for the American people. Also known as the Winter White House.
Atkins posted violent rhetoric about POTUS on his Facebook account WPBPD Chief Tony Araujo showed an image of the Trump assassination in which the suspect had posted. The suspect has admitted to making these threatening posts but claimed that he "was joking".
Officer Araujo stated that "In today's climate, you really can't say things like this," adding "We have incident after incident, example after example, of when threats become real, and we take these very seriously."
The officers became aware of the situation after a tip from another man who lives in Okeechobee, Florida had sent a tip to the FBI. Atkins, was said to have been taken into custody without incident, but that he had cocaine on his person.
The secret Service is looking into whether they will be filing federal charges for the threats.
